Common questions

Where are my recordings stored?

On your device, in the app's private storage. Your library (titles, markers, and transcripts) is encrypted; the audio files are ordinary WAV or M4A files. Flowphonic keeps no copy of them on a server and has no cloud backup, and from version 1.0.1 Android's automatic app backup is off — see the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Does transcription work without an internet connection?

Yes, on Android 13 or newer, once an on-device speech model is downloaded for your language (the download needs a connection). Transcribing a saved recording always uses that model and won't run without it. Live transcription during a take uses it too while the On-device speech engine setting is on, which it is by default. Without a model, or with the setting off, live transcription falls back to your phone's online speech recognizer, which uses the network.

Why does Flowphonic go online when it opens?

A quick purchase check with Google Play confirms your account still owns the app (for example that a purchase wasn't refunded). It sends no recordings or personal details, and if you're offline the app opens as usual. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Can I get my markers into my video editor?

You can export a session's markers as a Premiere XML, DaVinci Resolve EDL, or Final Cut Pro FCPXML file from the session screen. The marker file holds markers only (timecodes, titles, and quotes), not audio. The original audio and an SRT transcript export as separate files, which you can tick in the same export. Everything goes out through Android's share sheet.

What happens to my recordings if I uninstall the app?

Uninstalling deletes everything the app keeps: your recordings, markers, and transcripts. Files you've already exported or shared stay wherever you sent them. Export anything you want to keep before uninstalling.

Can I correct a transcript if it mishears something?

Yes — tap any transcript line in the session screen to edit its text directly, the same way you'd rename a marker.

Is Flowphonic available on iOS?

Not yet. Flowphonic is for Android only, and there is no iOS version or release date. Email us if you'd like to hear about an iOS version.
